I read this elsewhere and thought it might help, perhaps?
"I suggest something that is organic (although probably not advisable if you want to put other plants there.) Mallard are very happy to eat cattails young (and, in fact, about 4 feet high), every two delicate white roots and stems, too. purified with my 3 mallards, I have a gap of some years ago. It took about 2-3 years to get all the cattails death outside the point where it does not appear next spring. "
I hope this was useful.

It may be illegal. This area would probably consisdered a wetland, and even on private property, could be a legal nightmare.

Look at the telephone office 4h area children, the goats or sheep can have a child, do not come with the project company and the things that eat little icky .. I have a lot of land, then go to the auction and collect the sheep eat grass, when I go to sell more weed to make money, because the fat of lambs are bought and sold at head or the pound ... . No, do not pull weeds and animals and it is easy for them, delicious in the weeds

I had the same question years ago. at least in the BN is illegal to remove them without jumping through a hoop of paper. When you first see it you can not do.
